In the meeting, Deputy Minister Trần Việt Thanh expressed his sincere thanks for Japan’s support to Vietnam in the S&T field in general and in the atomic energy field in particular. The Deputy Minister also highly appreciatedachieved results from effective cooperation relations between NRA and relevant agencies under MOST.
The Deputy Minister also expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation between the two parties, especially to receive support from Japanese Nuclear Regulatory Agency to Vietnam’s regulatory agency in the formulation of regulatory documents and in human resource training. Capacities, infrastructure and human resources of the Agency has being strengthened to meet demands of the nuclear power development at the same time meet demands of atomic energy development for peaceful purposes.
NRA’s representative has reported to the Deputy Minister on the status of nuclear power development in Japan after Fukushima. Although Japan’s Government has had many efforts to re-start reactor piles, it is still faced with many difficulties. Japan has established new regulations on nuclear power including the formation of NRA to ensure the independence and transparency of the regulatory agency. He also shared tasks for the coming time of Vietnam’s NRA and hoped to support the Agency in the formulation of legal documents, safety assessment and human resource training.
