Opening the International Workshop on Advanced Materials Science and Nano Technology

Participating in the Workshop were Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Trần Việt Thanh, Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology Dương Ngọc Hải, Vice Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee of Quảng Ninh province Lê Quang Tùng, Vice President of Japan’s NationalInstitute of Materials Science, Mr. Muronachi, Professor, Academic Nguyễn Văn Hiệu, nearly 200 scientists from 20 nations in the world, more than 300 Vietnamese scientists and representatives from relevant agencies.

Delivering a speech in the Workshop, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Trần Việt Thanh said Vietnam’s Party, State and Government have been paying attention to the S&T development. MOST has always made efforts to move together with domestic and foreign scientists. Nano technology is one advanced technology widely used in economic branches. The IWAMSN event has become an important event which is expected among Vietnam’s scientist communities.

Especially, IWAMSN 2014 with many new topics would create good opportunities for the participants to discuss and share about research achievements as well as develop joint research projects in order to contribute to promoting application of advancements in advanced material researches into production and life.

“Hopefully, Nano – Hạ Longbrand name will become a familiar name among Vietnamese and internationalscientistcommunities in general as well as in the fields of advanced materials and nano technology in particular”the Deputy Minister emphasized.


Delivering a speech in the Workshop, Vice Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee of Quảng Ninhprovince Lê Quang Tùng said that over the past time for S&T field, the province has defined S&T as a key and regular tasks of the whole political system and society. It is the main factor to promote the economic development, strengthen the defense, security and protect the environment, contributing to make Quảng Ninh to become a province of service industry.

In addition, Quảng Ninh’s Provincial Party Committee issued the Themed Resolution on the Province’s S&T development for the 2011 – 2015period, directions by 2020; the Provincial People’s Council also issued the Resolution and the Provincial People’s Committee approved the Master plan on S&T development of Quảng Ninh province by 2020, visions by 2030, which have defined that the province would allocate 4 - 5 % of its regular budget to S&T and by 2015 it is strived to reach the level of 2% GDP.

The province’s objectives are to make S&T become the key foundation and motivation for the economic growth and sustainable development, contributing to ensure the provincial GDP annual growth rate of 12 – 13% for the 2011 – 2020 period; develop Quảng Ninh province to become an advanced province in the Red River Basin and in terms of S&T by the year of 2020.

Through IWAMSN 2014, Quảng Ninh province will give priorities to focus on using nano technology in some fields as health, agriculture, aquaculture and processing, environmental pollution and recycled energy production.


Also within the framework of IWAMSN 2014, a series of themed events would take place including materials and components with nanostructure; electronics and photonic materials; nano technology in life science and environmental technology; Polymermaterial and plastic material; calculation theory in materials science; Vietnam – Korea Workshop on photonics and nano technology…

It is known that the 7th IWAMSN 2014 would take place from November 03 to 06, 2014 and this is the second time IWAMSN is organized in Quảng Ninh province.
