Minister Nguyễn Quân met with Mr. Takebe Tsutomo

Minister Nguyễn Quân expressed his pleasure to meet Mr. Takebe and the delegation of Japan – Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance to visit Vietnam on the occasion that the two countries have organized practical activities for the 40-years anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relations and Japan – Vietnam Friendship Year 2013. The Minister has affirmed that cooperative relations between Vietnam and Japan, especially in the S&T field over the past time have been very good.

In the meeting, Mr. Takebe presented the proposal on establishing the VietnamJapan University. Mr. Takebe Tsutomu said that currently the proposal on the VietnamJapan University has been in the process of surveying, collecting and assessing information with objectives of establishing a multi-sector university, which carries out graduate and post-graduate training of international standards and is located in Hòa Lạc High Tech Park. He hoped MOST would support, pay attention to speeding up the project implementation progress and moving towards of establish the Vietnam – Japan University to become the symbol for the long-term and friendship relations between the two countries.

The Minister highly appreciated Mr. Takebe Tsutomo’s idea on establishing the VietnamJapan University according to the Asian Harvard Model. However, Minister Nguyễn Quân has also shared existing difficulties when establish the university as the group of Vietnamese lecturers is not able to teach in Japanese and English at the beginning, the area allocated for the university and services provided in Hòa Lạc High Tech Park are still limited,...

The Minister has affirmed that if the Ministry is assigned tasks by the Government, it would try his best so that the VietnamJapan would soon go into operation and hoped the two parties would overcome the difficulties in order to complete the project, meeting the two countries’ expectations.

The VietnamJapan University would be established and operated basically by ODA fund provided the Japanese Government, initially located in Hòa Lạc High Tech Park. The area of the graduate and post – graduate training schools is about 100 ha. After 10 years, it is estimated the training objective would be 6,000 students, in which post-graduate students is about 2,400 with majors in science, techniques; health, nurse, nursing; agriculture; Japanese language; law and economics, business administration.

Orientations for establishing the Vietnam – Japan University are that providing training of high quality as that of leading Japanese universities; training for key human resource for Vietnam’s development and promote the friendship between the two countries; training in close linkages with practice based on the foundation of Japanese technology and experience; being the convergence place for mutual understanding between the two countries; being based on the existing cooperation of universities of the two countries; carrying out the teaching and training in Japanese and combining with topics in English,…
