Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Trần Văn Tùng awarded Mr. Luck De Backer the Medal for the S&T Cause
Attending the Ceremony were Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Trần Văn Tùng, Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Bruno Angelet, together with MOST’s functional agencies and staff from Belgian Embassy to Vietnam.
In the Ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Trần Văn Tùng said that during his working time in Vietnam (2010 - 2013), Mr. Luck De Backer has had significant contributions to effectively develop many S&T cooperation programs and projects between Vietnam and Belgium. He has actively participated in the negotiation with Vietnamese partners to develop the Development Orientation Program for the 2011 - 2015 period approved in the 6th session of Vietnam – Belgium Mixed Committee for Development Cooperation.
For the field of S&T Development, the Belgian side has given priorities to activities on building capacities of technology renovation for Vietnamese enterprises (including small and medium ones) and paid attention to the development of S&T enterprises (spin-offs, start-ups, tech-based firms). Mr. Luc De Backer has directly participated and had contributions to the development of programs on supporting Vietnam’s economic and social development in general and Vietnam’s S&T cause in particular. Especially, he has actively supported the identification and formulation of the project “Formulating policies on renovating and developing enterprise incubation units” chaired by MOST. The project is aimed at improving the policy system support the development and incubation of S&T enterprises, contributing to achieving the objective of S&T Enterprise Development and Vietnam Strategy for S&T Development by 2020.
On behalf of MOST’s leaders, Deputy Minister Trần Văn Tùng has awarded Mr. Luc De Backer the Medal for the S&T Cause. The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the efforts and contribution made by Mr. Luck De Backer over the past time, especially in the S&T field and hoped that he would continue making contributions to Vietnam’s S&T Development.
Mr. Luck De Backer expressed his thanks for MOST’s attention and effective cooperation together with other colleagues to help with his successful fulfillment of assigned tasks. He said that this Medal has had the extreme importance and meaning, marking the cooperation and good relations between the two agencies. For the coming time, he would continue paying his attention as well as contribution in order to promote S&T cooperation between the two countries more and more strongly.
