The panorama of the meetingIn the working session, ROSATOM’s Deputy Director, Mr. Vyacheslav Pershukov happily informed the Minister of results achieved in the 7th Session of Vietnam – Russian Federation Coordinating Committee on Atomic Energy Cooperation; the two parties discussed and came to the agreement on the cooperation roadmap for bilateral nuclear relations of the two countries.
Minister Nguyễn Quân welcomed results achieved by the two parties in the Session. At the same time he hoped Russia’s relevant agencies would cooperate more closely with Vietnam’s agencies so that activities relating to Ninh Thuận Nuclear Power Project as well as other activities in every cooperation field of the two countries would continue to be developed. Regarding Ninh Thuận Nuclear Power Project, in Quarter I/2015 consulting contractors to assess the safety of Ninh Thuận Nuclear Power Project 1 would be selected before carrying out the selection the contractor for this Project.
Regarding the project on S&T nuclear Center with new research reactor piles, in addition to the selected location in Lâm Đồng, Vietnam would, together with consulting agencies, carry out surveys locations in Đồng Nai province and other locations. The Minister also said that if the center is constructed in Đồng Nai, it would be much closed to HCM City and the Project on Long Thành International Airport later, which would be favorable for the construction process as well as the most efficient project. In order to achieve that, the two parties would need to closely cooperate in surveys and report development, based on that Vietnam would report to the Prime Minister to official select the location for constructing the S&T nuclear Center.
Concluding the working session, Minister Nguyễn Quân highly appreciated issues shared by Mr. Vyacheslav Pershukov and would request relevant agencies not only under MOST but also under other Ministries and branches as Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Trade and Industry coordinate with MOST to successfully implement projects and agreements with Russia.
Also in the day of the 7thSession of Vietnam – Russian Federation Coordinating Committee on Atomic Energy Cooperation took place, MOST and ROSATOM official signed the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for supporting information and communication of joint projects in nuclear power field for the 2015 – 2020 period.
