The panorama of the ceremony
In the ceremony, PhD Lê Xuân Định – Director of the National Agency for Science and Technology Information (NASATI) said that over the time of working in Viet Nam Professor, Doctor Patricia G.Oyler has had many contributions to Vietnam’s whole system of library information in general and NASATI in particular.
Accordingly, she has organized and provided lectures for 15 short training courses in NASATI as library automation, library information services, use and application of British – American catalogue, preservation and maintenance of printed and digital documents, marketing of S&T information - library.
In addition, she has also contributed to support and consult for NASATI to formulate 03 projects to apply for funding from Atlantic Philanthropies including the project on building and developing Vietnam complex library on electronic information and Sabre book awarding program; the project on improving capacity of Vietnam’s S&T information – library system through compilation and popularizing the standard set of Catalogue reading MARC21; the project on improving capacity of Vietnam’s S&T information – library system through compilation and popularizing the standard set of British – American Catalogue principles …
On behalf of MOST’s leaders, Deputy Minister Trần Quốc Khánh awarded the Medal to Professor, Doctor Patricia G.Oyler for her significant contributions for the S&T cause. The Deputy Minister highly appreciated efforts and contributions of Professor, Doctor Patricia G.Oyler to S&T field in general and the field of library information in particular and hoped that she would continue to have contributions to Vietnam’s S&T development.
In the ceremony, Professor, Doctor Patricia G.Oyler shared that the Medal has had extremely important meaning to her. For the coming time, she would continue paying attention as well contributions in order to promote S&T cooperation between the two countries more and more developed.
