Participating in the Workshop were the representative from the UK Embassy in Vietnam, experts from the UK’s Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality, Department of Legislation under the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry’s Inspectorate, Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute,Vietnam Atomic Energy Agency (VAEA) and Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS).
Delivery the opening speech at the Workshop, Deputy Minister Cấn Văn Minh said that within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Science and Technology and the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office on cooperation to use atomic energy for peaceful purposes, the UK’s Embassy coordinated with VARNAS to carry out cooperation activities in order to support Vietnam to establish an independent and capable nuclear regulatory agency to manage nuclear safety, security and inspection. This Workshop is one activity among them. The Deputy Director hoped that the Workshop would be an opportunity for the two parties to share information and experience in inspecting nuclear power plants and prepare inspection activities for Vietnam’s first nuclear power plant.
In the Workshop, ONR’s expert introduced about the overview of ONR’s inspection on nuclear power plants during production, manufacture and construction process including QA, QC at plants.
The Workshop was introduced about safety inspections for surveying locations in Nuclear Power Plant Ninh Thuận 1 and 2 and VARANS’ inspection plants and program during the design and manufacture process. The examination, monitoring and quality assurance of Ninh Thuận Nuclear Power Plant were shared in the Workshop by EVN.
